Cheesy Green Onion Scones
I have become a huge fan of scones. I really never knew how easy they were to make until I gave em a try. I’ve now made three different types of scones, two fruit and this one. I make this about once or twice a month and either serve them with dinner or eat them as a snack. They are very delicious, my husband devours them! I’ve tried a few variations and although I thought they were good with bacon and ham, they give the scones a bit different consistency that I don’t really like. Feel free to try out some type of meat or change any of the ingredients up though, cooking is an adventure!

Ingredients:
- 1 ½ cups flour
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- 1 ½ teaspoons sugar
- Salt
- ½ stick of butter (¼ cup)
- ½ cup cheese (I use cheddar or Monterey jack)
- ¼ cup sliced green onions
- Pepper
- ½ cup heavy cream, plus more for topping
Preheat the oven to 400° and lightly grease a baking sheet. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, sugar and salt. Cut in the butter, cheese, green onions and pepper. For the salt and pepper, I use about ½ teaspoon salt and about half as much pepper. It doesn’t need much. You want to mix this until it starts to make clumps. Add in the cream (if you want to use a cooked meat, add it in now) and mix until it starts to get sticky. Don’t overwork the dough, but feel free to add more if it isn’t wet enough.

Place your dough on a floured surface and form into a circle. Cut this into 8 wedges. Place these on your baking sheet and coat the tops with heavy cream.

Bake these tasty scones until they are golden brown, about 20 to 25 minutes.

These are so simple and totally delicious. I love serving these with a salad or eating them for a quick breakfast. My husband prefers them with bacon, but I still like them just the way they are! You could easily double this recipe too, just make two dough circles, giving you 18 awesome scones to feast on.
