Garlic Shrimp with White Wine Sauce

[ 5 ] April 19, 2010 |

I am a very big seafood fan, but I rarely cook it at home. I’m not really sure why, but I can tell you that this will be a regular dinner in my house from now on! It was so tasty and simple. You might think… ‘well, I don’t know, I’m not a big fan of wine!’ Trust me, it doesn’t taste like wine. You combine the white wine with butter and it makes this smooth, delicious sauce. Don’t take my word for it, give it a try!

Ingredients:

  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • ½ pound shrimp
  • ¼ cup butter
  • ½ cup white wine
  • Parsley
  • Basil

First let me say that this recipe made enough for me and my husband with no leftovers. It can easily be doubled. Also, this goes great with pasta, but feel free to serve it however you’d like! If you are going to serve it with pasta, check the directions first to see how long it needs to cook. This whole meal takes about 15 minutes so plan around that.

Get your skillet out and coat it well with olive oil. Scatter your garlic, salt and pepper. Don’t go too heavy with the salt and pepper, you can always add more later. Turn the heat on until the oil starts to simmer, about medium low.

Spread your shrimp out in your skillet.

You want to cook it until it starts to turn a little pink on the side that is down. I think I cooked mine about 2 to 3 minutes on each side.

Once your shrimp is done, place it in a bowl, plate or some type of dish to hold it in. In the same skillet, add your butter and wine. I also added a little more pepper at this point.

Simmer this mixture until it thickens up, stirring occasionally. Mine took about 7 minutes. Add your shrimp back in.

Coat your shrimp in the sauce and make sure they are warm. I let mine hang out with the sauce for about 2 minutes or so. Put your pasta in a bowl or on a plate and toss with the shrimp and sauce. Add parsley and basil if you’d like. I think it was a great touch to finish off this super easy and delicious dish.

This garlic shrimp was amazing! The white wine sauce was out of this world. It was my first attempt at making a white wine sauce and I think I did a pretty good job!

What is your favorite shrimp dish? This is mine now for sure : )
